Direct, coordinate and supervise truck drivers and driver helpers
Manage driver schedules, vacation time, and reduce overtime
Ensure all routes are assigned to drivers daily
Assign driver helpers when appropriate
Conduct driver and driver helper personnel management functions:
Recruiting
Hiring and on-boarding
Training
Develop and enforce policy and procedure
Performance evaluation
Disciplinary actions, write-ups, suspensions and terminations
Conduct driver meetings every 3 months
Resolve delivery problems:
Assist in resolving truck issues, dispatching a relief vehicle and/or tow truck when necessary
Assist in resolving invoice and/or product issues
Coordinating redelivery of orders when necessary
Fleet management:
Manage and control vehicle costs, including vehicle fuel and repair costs
Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs of fleet with outside repair companies
Maintain a contact list of repair facilities, tow companies, tire suppliers, etc related to all aspects of the fleet. Review pricing and work to reduce costs
Monitoring the level of fuel in the diesel tank, verifying best prices of fuel with suppliers, and ordering fuel as needed
Coordinate back-haul pickup of product purchased from suppliers
Requirements
High School diploma (college degree preferred)
